Recently I came across this rather unhelpful CF error message.
This was occuring when I tried indexing a particular verity collection. In the end to get it going again I had to delete the original collection and recreate it, then try indexing again. I suspect it was a file system corruption but Im not 100% sure. Hopefully if you are having the same issues, doing what I did may work for you.
